Monastery of São Bento da Vitória

Dating from the late 16th century was classified a national monument in 1977, being one of the most important religious buildings in the city. Between 1985 nd 1990, the IPPAR submits the Monastery the restoration, allowing the installation of Benedictine monks, National Orchestra of Porto and Porto district file. Within the Porto 2001 – European Capital of culture, the cloister Noble is covered by a shell. In 2007, the State assigns to the THEATRE (Teatro Nacional de s. João) a significant part of the building-rising wing, part of the South Wing and Noble Cloister, where space performs theatrical performances, concerts and special events of your programming, welcoming foreign initiatives still of diverse nature.

The monastery (Cloister) has a flexible capacity, varying according to the nature of activities to be undertaken: Audience/concert: 320 persons; Dining: 500 people; Dinner wheel/other initiatives: 700 people.
