National São João Theatre

Built in 1910 on the ruins of the Royal Theater that burned down in 1908, is a classical building, with allegorical ornaments to pain, kindness, hatred and love. The main façade is inspired by the renovation of the Louis XVI style, which characterized the early years of the 20th century, especially in France. By Marques da Silva, is a property of public interest. Has as main objectives the creation and presentation of theater of several genera and the promotion of regular contact of the public with the works, classic and contemporary, national and universal dramatic repertoire. In addition to the São João National Theatre, headquarters, integrate this structure in the Carlos Alberto Theatre and the monastery of São Bento da Vitória.
